Happy Halloween!

Halloween is so fun with kids.  I have always enjoyed this holiday but seeing Shortstop get so excited to go knock on doors and say trick or treat was truly a highlight.  He loved helping me put up my Halloween decor and waited anxiously for the mail each day until his costume came.  He loved trying it on and telling everyone who would listen that he was gonna be "Sully from M-O-N-S-T-E-R-S-I-N-C and my Yukie is gonna be Mike Wazowski!"  And yes...he would spell the movie for people.  So Halloween came and we could not wait to celebrate.  Of course they had their day outfits...just simple Halloween themed shirts and what not.

Then dinner was kid friendly and simple but so much fun: mummy hot dogs, banana ghosts and pumpkin juice.  Shortstop loved the faces on everything, but mostly the bananas because they were chocolate chips.

We chose a neighborhood that we LOVE here in Provo to trick or treat.  Going around our complex is not very productive because everyone has young kids so everyone goes out at the same time so we just pick some random place each year.  Our little "monsters" were soooo cute (and I know I am biased).

Mark and I wanted to have a "theme" this year so we bought Monster University hoodies and a pennant- I think it worked

At every door, Mark would take Shortstop up, he wanted to knock, then he would say trick or treat, look to make sure the candy landed in his bucket, say thanks and then run and yell to me "Mom!!!  They gave me trick or treat candies!"  It was awesome and I so wish I had gotten video.

Fullback and I just hung back and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  I tried to get him to look at the camera but I will take it as a compliment that he couldn't take his eyes off of me. :)

After we got home and watched It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, we put the kids to bed and Mark and I watched a Halloween-ish movie- The Nightmare Before Christmas.  Not my favorite at all, or Mark's, but we had never seen it and wanted to give it a try since it is Disney.  But now I have and even though I probably won't watch it again I am glad I can say I have seen it.
All in all, it was a GREAT Halloween.  Today the decorations are put away and I am going to go make our Gratitude Thanksgiving tree and focus on the next wonderful holiday.  Hope you all had a spooky but safe Halloween as well.
